COVID-19 Update

Dear Parent(s) & Guardian(s),

I hope that this email finds you and your family well. I just wanted to make contact with you all as we head into our Easter Break.

The first thing is to say a huge thank you and well done to our students.  The vast majority of them are working hard, maintaining focus and submitting really good and creative work.  We are very proud of what they are doing in challenging circumstances.

I also want to say thanks to you, the parents, because we know this is difficult for you too and we really appreciate the support you are giving.  We are scheduled to return to school after the Easter break, but potentially, the school closure may extend beyond that.  We will keep you up to date if we hear anything that changes current plans.  If we are to have another couple of weeks of distance learning, we ask parents to continue to monitor their child’s work and to let us know if there are any problems. Teachers have been working very hard to ensure work is flowing through and that it is appropriate, challenging and rewarding for our students.

Work has paused on our permanent building during this ‘lockdown’ but as we had nearly 2 months built up in reserve of our opening in August, we hope that the stoppage will not be detrimental.  The first two floors are very close to completion, so we very much hope to be moving in during the summer as planned.  Of course, we are unsure how long the work will cease for, but are hopeful they will be back on site shortly, with work continuing apace.

Finally I would like to wish all within the SCC community a very Happy Easter.  Although we will be celebrating Easter in different circumstances this year, we should still celebrate as much as we can.  And we must always remember that this too will pass and we hope to be back within the school as soon as possible.  We are also very grateful to the parents/guardians and family members who are working on the frontline, putting themselves at risk in order to help others.

Take care of yourselves and each other and I hope to see you all in the near future.

Mark.
